about

I felt like there was no better time than right now, in our current world’s unfortunate and soul-crushing climate, to take a breather. Time to sit back and at least for a few minutes, clear our heads, and find a nice quiet space in ourselves.

I’ve been intrigued if not obsessed with Binaural Beats since I discovered that they were a thing. Frequencies that induce meditation? Relieve anxiety? Help to focus on and unlock parts of our untapped mind and consciousness? YES PLEASE!

As someone that has battled depression, anxiety, ADHD, and OCD basically all at once all of the time, I thought it might be a fun experiment not only for myself to create these sweeping and minimal moods and atmospheres but to also compile as an album to release for FREE in hopes that even one other person can find a bit of solitude in it. I truly hope y’all enjoy it.

Here is a little background on the more "technical" recording side of the album for those that are interested in knowing what they are hearing and a little bit of the science behind it. The majority of the "musical" pieces, i.e. Piano, Strings, Pads, Etc. came from a mix of the Mellotron running through a Strymon BigSky for the various echoes and reverbs.

As for the Binaural Beats aspect, they were all created within MAX for Live in Ableton and dialed in according to the 4 different Binaural "Ranges." These are:

Delta (1 to 4 Hz) - Deep sleep and relaxation.

Theta (4 to 8 Hz) - Reduced anxiety, relaxation, as well as meditative and creative states.

Alpha (8 to 13 Hz) - Positivity, and decrease anxiety.

Beta (14 to 30 Hz) - Increased concentration and alertness, problem-solving, and improved memory.

For this album, I focused on ranges shifting and circulating in between the ranges of 3 through 15Hz to focus on the relaxation, anxiety, stress, and positivity frequencies because we all need it!

about

Skeleton Beach Knoxville, Tennessee

Skeleton Beach's origins began as a simple homage / exploration into the sounds and textures of classic horror film scores, and 70s modular electronic music.

Every album is an experimental process of blending vintage analog / modular synths, drum machines, piano and percussive elements to create ambient, hypnotic, and at times chaotic music that spans the full spectrum of electronic music.
